The Ukrainian international was targeted by Arsenal supporters who directed the laser in his direction after he was booed when he entered as a replacement for the visitors in the second half.
The supporters could have seen this as a method to vent their resentment with Mudryk joining their London rivals instead of Arsenal during the January transfer window.
He was on the field as Arsenal defeated Chelsea 3-1 at the Emirates to retake first place in the Premier League.
Wednesday morning, Arsenal released the following statement: “An arrest has been made following the use of a laser during last night’s match.
“This behaviour is dangerous and totally unacceptable, and we will fully support the police with their enquiries. We will obviously take the strongest possible action.”
The Gunners will travel to the St James Park on Sunday evening to face Newcastle United.
