Prior to their encounter on Sunday afternoon, Chelsea presented a guard of honor to Manchester City's starting lineup

On Saturday night, Pep Guardiola's team won the Premier League after Arsenal's loss to Nottingham Forest rendered them unstoppable.

Then, in accordance with tradition, they were honored before their next game, although not all of City's key players, who were instrumental in winning the league.

Instead, players like Sergio Gomez, Cole Palmer, Rico Lewis, and Kalvin Phillips, who have all made just a few appearances this season, all began.

Given that they were all rested, Guardiola decided to rotate a number of City's regular players, including Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva, and Jack Grealish.

The opposing squad had created a human tunnel as they clapped City onto the field, and Kyle Walker led the team through it.
When City would officially secure the league championship was unclear, and many believed they would require a victory against Chelsea.

Although Taiwo Awoniyi's first-half goal caused Arsenal to lose 1-0 the previous night, the Gunners were unable to make up ground.

Despite having a rotating lineup, City defeated Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a brilliant finish from Argentine attacker Julian Alvarez.
