Toney was diagnosed as a gambling addict after he bet on his own team to lose 13 times

Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, has posted a confident statement on social media, promising to return soon after serving an eight-month suspension for betting offenses.

Toney was charged with 262 offenses by the Football Association last year, 232 of which he pled guilty to; his sentence, a long ban and a £50,000 fine, was announced earlier this month. He won't take the field until January 16 of the following year.

Toney placed 13 bets on his own team to lose, lied to the FA to hide his acts, and was only spared a harsher suspension because he is a "gambling addict."

The remaining 30 accusations were dropped by the governing body, but Toney is still suspended until the following year and won't be allowed to practice with his team until this coming September.

He said on Instagram that he will be "back soon" and that "cream always rises." After wagering 13 times against his own team losing, Toney was identified as a gambling addict.
