A photo of the back of the man's shirt has been making the rounds on Twitter, with many claiming it is a reference to the tragic Hillsborough Disaster in 1989 at Hillsborough Stadium, which resulted in the deaths of 97 Liverpool fans due to a human crush during the FA Cup semi-final in Sheffield against Nottingham Forest.
In 2016, an inquest jury found that there had been a series of police mistakes leading to their wrongful death.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the alleged football fan has been detained on suspicion of a public order offense.

The police department told the BBC that the football fan's jersey was the only factor in his detention, but they declined to say if the supposed allusion to the accident was the reason.
Many people have taken to Twitter to express their indignation about the football jersey on social media.

They went on to say that the shirt carried a "abhorrent message attacking loved ones and victims of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989."
