German international Gündogan has agreed to a two-year contract that is effective through June 2025 with an additional year's option.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the contract contains an option to extend through June 2026. It is now set to expire in 2025.
Additionally, Barcelona chose to add a €500 million release clause to Gundogan's contract.
The former midfielder for Borussia Dortmund leaves Manchester City after his contract at Etihad Stadium expires.
Following his role in helping Pep Guardiola's team win the treble this recently finished season, Gundogan will retire from the Manchester City squad.
It was discovered that City had extended Gundogan's contract by one year, but the midfielder chose to sign with Barcelona in order to take on new challenges in his football career.
