On Thursday, a deal was reached for the American owners of English Premier League powerhouse Chelsea to acquire Strasbourg of the French Ligue 1.
Chelsea's management group, headed by American entrepreneur Todd Boehly and US-based Clearlake Capital, had a difficult first year.
Managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter were fired before a disastrous season under interim manager Frank Lampard.
Despite investing over £500 million ($624 million) in new players in the first two transfer windows under the new owners, Chelsea's 12th-place performance was their lowest since 1994.
Since then, Mauricio Pochettino has been brought on as their new coach.
Boehly also shares ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers, an NBA powerhouse, and the LA Lakers with the consortium.
