Alobo Omokhoa, a 48-year-old former police officer who was impersonating an Inspector of Police in the Ogudu Government Restricted Area of the state, was apprehended by the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad.
This was revealed in a tweet on the Command's Twitter page on Friday by Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin.
In Ogudu GRA, Kosofe, Omokhoa was accompanying a Golf Volkswagen that was transporting stainless iron when he attempted to run.
The statement partly read, "During interrogation by the Commander Lagos Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Omokhoa could not give satisfactory answers to prove that he was a serving member of the Force.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that he was dismissed from the Force in 2020 for desertion. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that since his dismissal, he had been in the criminal act of escorting cars and trucks conveying goods to any part of Lagos for a fee.
"The suspect will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation."
