Kevin De Bruyne, a playmaker for Manchester City, expressed regret about having to be replaced during Saturday night's UEFA Champions League final versus Inter Milan.
Man City beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, after De Bruyne was removed from the game after only 35 minutes due to injury. Rodri's goal in the second half was the game-winner.
The Belgian described his ailment to the media after the game, stating that it was a hamstring issue and that he had done everything to be ready for the Champions League final.
De Bruyne said (via Evening Standard): “It’s been a hard two months. I had a lot of issues with my hamstring. It snapped.
“It is what it is, I did everything to be okay. It is a shame because I felt really good in the first half an hour, and I felt I was doing well. But the team is good enough, and we won, so that is it.”
Kevin De Bruyne will not be eligible for the Belgian national team in the forthcoming Euro Qualifiers due to his injury.
Even if Kevin De Bruyne's ailment is still not fully known, the player seems calm at the moment and will be getting ready for the pre season which will kick off at end of June
He added, “It is amazing, we have been working so long for this. The history for the club and for everything that we did as a team, I think we fully deserve it. We have not lost in the Champions League this year. It was not the best game, but finals are always difficult, and now it is time to celebrate.”
