Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has been ordered by the Lagos state government to pay N18,640,092 in personal income tax in full within seven days.
Iyabo Ojo, according to the Lagos government, owes N7,376,000.00 in taxes for the year 2022 and N11,264,092 in back taxes for the 2021 tax year.
The famous actress receives a seven-day deadline to make good on her debt or face penalties.
She uploaded papers from a tax on personal earnings letter on Instagram and voiced her displeasure with the excessive amount the government was demanding in the post.
The actress demanded an explanation from Sanwo-Olu, the governor, and the Lagos State administration in her tweet, expressing her worries.
She criticized the lack of openness in the computation method and questioned the rationale for such high personal income taxes.
The popular actress cited an earlier experience in which she cooperated with the request from the government to report and explain her income but did not get a response.
The mother of two expressed her worries about the government's lack of sensitivity to the difficulties that people and companies experience since she felt overburdened by the growing financial load that was being placed on her.
