Jurrien Timber, an Ajax defender, will soon become the latest summer addition at Arsenal.
Jurrien Timber, an Ajax defender, is on the verge of joining Arsenal in a move for up to £40 million.

This summer, Mikel Arteta is looking to add a versatile defender, and 22-year-old Dutch international Timber, who can play both centrally and at right-back, is the perfect candidate.

The injury of William Saliba in the last few weeks of the season coincided with the demise of Arsenal manager Arteta's team's championship chances. While filling in, Rob Holding and Jakub Kiwior were unable to match the Frenchman's performance from his spectacular Premier League debut.

Following last week's rejection of an initial offer of about £30 million from Arsenal for signing of Timber, the two parties have now come to an agreement. According to De Telegraaf, Arsenal will pay an initial £36 million plus an additional £4 million in add-ons.

After previously agreed to personal arrangements, including Timber double his present income, he is now scheduled to go to England in the next days for a physical.
