Manchester United set to agree transfer fee for Mason Mount with Chelsea

Mason Mount would depart Chelsea this summer if Chelsea and Manchester United can reach an agreement on the terms of the transfer. The two sides are allegedly heading toward a "middle ground" that might advance the transfer to its final phases, according to The Mirror.
The 24-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge became questionable, and it is already thought that he has reached a personal agreement with the Red Devils. Following a challenging season, Mount, who had only one year left on his contract, seemed more likely to leave.

The west London team fell to 12th in the Premier League standings after a slew of new hires and managers caused unpredictability during a challenging time of transition under new ownership. The midfielder in particular suffered because of injury, which severely hampered his season and limited the number of games.

The two-time Chelsea Player of the Season, though, seems to have been in talks to leave the club rather than remain.

Manchester United has consistently shown interest, and many of their current offers—the most recent of which was around the £50 million mark—have been turned down. According to reports, the west London club backed down from their original assessment of £70 million by presenting a counteroffer with a total value of £65 million.
