Mateo Kovaci leaves Chelsea for Manchester City and signs a long-term contract.

The Croatian international has signed a contract with the Premier League winners that runs until June 2027.

According to Reportminds.com, Mateo Kovacic has transferred from Chelsea to Manchester City for a fee that might reach $38 million. 

Kovacic will wear jersey number 8 at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City has announced. 

If you remember, Ilkay Gundogan, who departed for Barcelona on a free transfer, previously wore the number 8 jersey. 

As Manchester City looks to defend their triple next season, Kovacic is anticipated to bring more talent to the midfield area. 

Mateo Kovaci said that he couldn't pass up the chance to sign with Manchester City. 

He said he's looking forward to working with Guardiola at City.
