Arsenal breaks their tradition to satisfy new signing Declan Rice with his iconic shirt no 41

Declan Rice will defy Arsenal's first-team squad number tradition by donning his legendary #41 there.

Rice will don the No. 41 jersey after signing a five-year contract with Arsenal that runs through 2028 with an additional year's option.

On Saturday afternoon, the Gunners eventually announced Rice's signing in a club-record £105 million deal, defeating Manchester City and Bayern Munich to secure his services.

The England player, who previously wore that jersey during his nine-year affiliation with West Ham, has adopted the number 41.

According to rumors, Rice might not be permitted to wear that shirt number as a result of what Alex Iwobi had said. Iwobi started off with the Gunners with the number 45, but he was ultimately requested to switch to a "senior number" instead, settling on 17.

However, Rice's request to wear the number was accepted by Arsenal, and the midfielder intends to continue wearing it for the remainder of his career.
