Ex Arsenal legend Ian Wright reveals how he convinced Declan Rice to join the Gunners to play along with Bukayo Saka

According to Ian Wright, he made an effort to persuade Declan Rice to sign with Arsenal while visiting St. George's Park in England in March. 

After months of rumors, Rice finally agreed to a £105 million British record transfer from West Ham to the Gunners on Saturday. 

Wright, a former striker for the Gunners, claims he spoke to the 24-year-old this past season and advised him to picture playing with Bukayo Saka at the top level.

'Everyone was saying about when I went to the England squad, I was tapping him up.yes I F*****g was. Literally, I was begging him!', Wright said speaking on Wighty's House. 

'I don’t work for the club, I’m an Arsenal fan. I said, "look at you and Saka, how cool you lot look together", It's just excitement.'

When West Ham won the Europa Conference League last season, Rice became only the third captain to ever win a major trophy, and he now joins Arsenal following a nine-year stay in East London.
