Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo State, extends his medical leave.
The extension came in a letter he sent to the State House of Assembly.
The letter, however, made no mention of the Governor's return date.
Olamide Oladiji, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, stated that the Governor's decision is in accordance with Section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria's Constitution (as amended).
According to the letter, his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will continue to serve as Governor until a statement in writing to the contrary is issued.
Recall that in the Governor's letter dated June 5, 2023, he stated that he was going on leave for health reasons and would return on July 6, 2023.
The Speaker, who thanked God for the Governor's quick recovery, expressed hope that the governor would shortly resume his duties.
