Liverpool have handed Darwin Nunez shirt no 9 (Photos)

Darwin Nunez has been named as Liverpool FC's new number nine for the next season.

Nunez has taken over the No. 9 shirt previously worn by Roberto Firmino before his departure this summer, according to Liverpool.

Nunez formerly wore the No. 27, but has immediately switched numbers as he prepares to lead the Reds' offense in the upcoming 2023-24 season. 

Nunez arrived to Liverpool as a club-record signing, but he failed to make much of an impact in his debut season. 

In 42 appearances for Liverpool, the Uruguayan netted 15 goals and provided four assists.
