Pep Guardiola will release Laporte if Gvardiol joins Manchester City

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Premier League winner Manchester City, is willing to let Aymeric Laporte depart if the club signs Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.
Laporte will apparently be notified that he may leave Etihad if Man City is successful in acquiring Gvardiol's move this summer, per the BBC (via Manchester Evening News).

The Spanish defender is still a key player in Guardiola's preseason plans despite the lingering questions over his future at Man City.

As he has slipped down the pecking order at Man City, Laporte has been connected with a departure.

The 29-year-old played only 12 league games for the Citizens last season, compared to 33 Premier League appearances in 2021/2022.

The 21-year-old defender is Guardiola's top target this summer, but Man City is reticent to match Leipzig's £85 million price offered for him.
