Samuel Chukwueze claims that his mother almost forbade him from playing football by burning his boots

 

Samuel Chukwueze, a winger for AC Milan, has said that his mother didn't always encourage him to play football.

The 24-year-old said his mother wished for him to concentrate on his studies.

He said his mother burned his boots in an effort to get him to stop playing football.

“In Africa, developing talent was very hard. But through hard work and God’s grace, everything worked perfectly fine. I encountered so many obstacles before I became who I am today.

“It wasn’t easy. My mum didn’t not allowed me to play football. African mothers believe you have to study. But things changed. You know, when God says ‘This is your destiny,’ and this is your destiny.

“My mum burnt my boots and everything. But right now, she believes in football. Before, she didn’t trust the process but now she trusts the process,” Chukwueze told Milan TV.
