Virgil van Dijk has been named Liverpool FC's new captain, with Trent Alexander-Arnold named vice-captain.
Following the departure by Jordan Henderson with the Reds, the centre-back, who also plays for his nation, the Netherlands, will assume full-time control of the armband.

Furthermore, the football team might choose Alexander-Arnold as captain's deputy, succeeding James Milner.

Van Dijk has made 222 games for Liverpool since arriving from Southampton in January 2018.

Within that period, he helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and FA Community Shield.
