In search of a fresh challenge outside of Germany, the 34-year-old pushed open the departure door at Bayern Munich last summer.
Barcelona was able to sign him in spite of their financial issues.
Afterwards, Lewandowski displayed all of his maturity and skill, making a total of 46 starts across all competitions while scoring 33 goals and dishing out 6 assists.
Lewandowski's Champions League performance suffered when Xavi Hernandez's team was eliminated at the group round.Yet at this stage in his Barcelona career, this is the thing Lewy regrets the most.
“The biggest regret we can have from last season is the Champions League. I think we were unlucky”, he told The Athletic.
“We had a lot of injuries in the defensive line. If you rewatch the games against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan at home, the timing of everything was horrible.
“Just imagine last season if we had won the game at home against Inter. We scored 3 goals and still couldn’t win, which is unusual”, he continued
This year in the UEFA Champions League, Robert Lewandowski is anticipated to steer Barcelona's offense.
Last season, the Polish striker led the Spanish League in goals scored and contributed to his team's La Liga championship.
He added:“But within any season you have better and worse moments of form, you need to navigate them and take the best out of your team.”
