For the most of the first half, the game was equally matched with both sides generating opportunities. Ronald Araujo of Barcelona, though, gave his team the advantage in the 23rd minute. The defender from Uruguay headed in a corner, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Despite dominating the second half, Milan was unable to make a breakthrough. Fati then scored the game-winning goal after coming off the bench with just 10 seconds left. A stunning strike was curled into the top corner by the teenage forward as he cut in from the left.
With the win, Barcelona got off to a strong start under new manager Xavi Hernandez. When the Catalan team returns to La Liga play the following month, they will be looking to improve on this performance.
