The Emirates Cup is won by Mikel Arteta's team following a shootout between Arsenal and Monaco, 1-1 (5-4 on pens).

In an exciting friendly match decided by a penalty shootout, Arsenal defeated Monaco to win the Emirates Cup and cap off their preseason campaign.

Mikel Arteta's team prevailed in their penultimate test before facing Manchester City in the Community Shield matchup, giving numerous summer acquisitions their home debuts.

However, the visitors were a tough opponent and seized the forefront in the first half.

Youssouf Fofana headed in a cross from Mohamed Camara after the midfielder picked up the ball and surged into the penalty area for Monaco.

Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber both had good performances before halftime, which helped Arsenal's response and swift equalizer.

With a new front three in place, Gabriel Martinelli had a strong effort. He found Eddie Nketiah with a tight spot, enabling him to volley in.

Around the hour mark, Arsenal made a number of substitutions that gave them more energy, however Wissam Ben Yedder threatened after hitting the woodwork.

Aaron Ramsdale stood tall down the centre to deflect the shot, preventing Takumi Minamino, a former Liverpool player, from scoring.

Gabriel was then able to score the game-winning penalty kick, capping up Arsenal's preseason in fine fashion only days ahead their first game of the new season.
