Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, responded at unhappy striker Joao Felix by adamantly maintaining that "nobody is bigger than the club."
Felix recently said that he would definitely 'love to join Barcelona' in an interview with Fabrizio Romano after the LaLiga champions were rumored to be interested in signing the Madrid player.
His remarks infuriated Atletico, and fans vandalized Felix's name plate outside the stadium by crossing it out and writing "Go to Barcelona" next to it in Spanish.
Felix's future is in question when he returned to Atletico after his brief loan stint at Chelsea, where he found it difficult to adjust to the rigors of Premier League play.
The 23-year-old was forced to practice with Atletico Madrid's youth team for a portion of their preseason in Spain before being seen looking dejected after being benched during a loss to a South Korean K-League XI.
Felix was therefore left out of the team for their next match against Manchester City.
