Lionel Messi, the captain of Inter Miami, was ranked as the seventh-largest athletic star in history by the British sports publication GiveMeSport.
Three football legends were the only ones to make the top 10.
The Argentina captain, though, was placed lower in the rankings than two football players.
Diego Maradona and Pele, two late legends from Argentina and Brazil, respectively.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi's enduring nemesis, was not included in the top 10.
Due to his legendary status after the Albiceleste's historic FIFA World Cup victory in 2022, Messi is regarded as the best player of all time.
The lists of the greatest figures in athletic history are as follows:
1. Maradona – He guided Argentina to the World Cup in 1986.
2. Michael Jordan (Basketball legend)
3. Pele
4. Babe Ruth (baseball legend)
5. Larry Bird (basketball star)
6. Roger Federer (Tennis legend)
7. Lionel Messi
8. Wayne Gretzky (Ice hockey legend),
9. Late Sir Donald Bradman (Australia’s cricketing legend)
10. LeBron James (basketball star)
