It's been gathered that seven-year deal with a one-year club option has been reached by the 23-year-old at Stamford Bridge.
The Serbia international will battle for the number one place at Stamford Bridge alongside Robert Sanchez who just joined the club from Brighton Hove Albion.
Chelsea's transfer deal for new goalkeeper comes after Kepa Arrizabalaga's loan move from the team to Real Madrid and Edouard Mendy's signing with Al-Ahli.
It's been gathered that Petrovic has two Serbian caps and has played 43 times for New England in the MLS.
