As the start of the 2023-2023 season approaches this weekend, most clubs are busy making their final preparations as to who goes on loan and who stays. Most teams, especially in the premier league and elsewhere, have already given numbers to their first team players.
This is done in order to trim their squad in order to make room for additional players who they believe could be a plus to the squad.
But in most cases it is the younger players that are usually allowed to go out on loan in order for them to gain more playing time and experience before breaking into the first team squad.
Chelsea football club is not left out of this exercise due to the number of young players coming from the academy.
This past three months has already seen the departure of David Datro Fofana to Union Berlin, Charlie Webster to SC Heerenveen and Dion Rankine to Exeter City.
The latest coming from the Chelsea Official website has it that Chelsea has reached an agreement with Belgian pro league side, K.A.S Eupen for the one year loan of their 19 year old goalkeeper, Gabriel Slonina.
The young United States shot stopper, fondly called "Gaga" was among the group that enjoyed a successful pre-season tour of the USA. And noticeably he was on goal for the game against Fulham in the premier league summer series which was won by the London side.
Slonina who joined Chelsea from Chicago fire as a teenager in 2022 was on loan Last season with the Chicago fire in the USA
The 6ft 4 inches tall gold keeper will be hoping to future more for Eupen, who sat 4th in the Belgian pro league.
Earlier in the year, Slonina, who had played for the United States men's national team, captained his side during the under 20 world cup hosted by Argentina. And was impressive during the tournament. But eventually they were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage by Uruguay.
