Gianluigi Buffon, a former Juventus player, has made known that he plans to go back to school once he retires.

At the age of 45, football's greatest goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon announced his retirement.

The 2006 World Cup champion played his last season with his alma mater Parma, guiding them to fourth place in Serie B and the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia before being eliminated by eventual champion Inter Milan.

In February, Buffon extended his contract with I Crociati until 2024, however he has since made the decision to resign before the 2023–2024 season.

The Italian goalkeeper won the UEFA Cup in 1998–1999 during his debut season with Parma before joining Juventus in July 2001 for a then-record £32 million transfer price for a goalkeeper.

He had great success with the Bianconeri, winning the Serie A championship 10 times over his two tenure with the Turin-based team and appearing in 685 games overall.

Buffon played for Paris Saint-Germain during the 2018–19 season, earning another league championship to his resume.

Throughout his remarkable career, he also received several individual honors, including 13 Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year honours.

The legendary Italian, who played for the Azzurri for 23 years, is eighth on the list of male players with the most international appearances.
