Ilkay Gundogan takes up shirt no 22 for Barcelona ahead of new season

Gundogan has been formally registered as a player with FC Barcelona.

The former Manchester City midfielder has decided to wear the number 22, which will replace Raphinha's current number 11, which he will wear.

According to reports, Gündoan might make his competitive Barcelona debut against Girona on Sunday at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium. 

If you remember, Gundogan wore number 14 during preseason matches. Barcelona offered and requested that Gündoan wear number 5 for the Busquests, but Gündoan made a different choice. 

Ilkay Gundogan claims he chose to wear number 22 since it was his number when he first broke through while playing for Nürnberg.
