Karim Benzema misses the penalty as Al-Ittihad crash out from the Arab Cup

In the quarterfinals of the Arab Club Champions Cup on Saturday, Al-Ittihad's captain Karim Benzema missed a penalty attempt, and the Saudi Arabian champions fell to Al-Hilal 3-1.

Just so you know, Al-Ittihad dominated their group, winning all three of their games to go to the final eight.

Al-Ittihad suffered a setback at the hands of the team that placed third in the Saudi Pro League last season, and Benzema was unable to score for the first time since moving to Saudi Arabia.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic put Al-Hilal ahead with a wonderful header in the 14th minute in the 18-yard box, while Salem Al-Dawsari doubled their advantage with a penalty kick shortly before halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half, Romarinho beat Kalidou Koulibaly to a cross and gave Al-Ittihad a goal back.

A quarter of an hour later, Malcolm gave Al-Hilal a two-goal advantage with a close-range low header.

Twelve minutes before the game's conclusion, Al-Ittihad was given a penalty, and Benzema's spot-kick struck the outside of the post. This was their best opportunity to tie the score.
