Lucas Paqueta's deal to Manchester City has fallen apart after rumors of his involvement in gambling
The Brazilian international was mentioned as a potential replacement for injured Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City.
The West Ham midfielder, who is worth 70 million pounds, is a favorite of Pep Guardiola.
However, it seems that the deal is off as a result of City's withdrawal.
The probe was sparked by a wager on Lucas Paquetá receiving a yellow card during West Ham's Premier League match against Aston Villa on March 12 that ended in a 1-1 tie.
In the 24th minute of the second half, the Brazilian received a yellow card.
Initial research revealed that multiple new Betway accounts related to Paqueta's associates were opened on that day, with individuals depositing the maximum amount permitted.
It was discovered that these accounts placed a joint wager in an effort to boost winnings: the authors would only be paid out if both Betis striker Luiz Henrique and Villarreal forward Paquetá got yellow cards on the same day in March, against Villa and Villarreal, respectively.
This weekend's West London derby will pit West Ham against Chelsea. Lucas Paqueta's inclusion in David Moyes' Premier League starting lineup is up in the air.
