Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia joined Chelsea because of money - Ex Chelsea star

Emmanuel Petit, a former Chelsea midfielder, thinks Caicedo and Lavia should have joined Liverpool.

Remember that Chelsea prevailed in the negotiation process to sign the two players last week.

With a British record cost of £115 million, Moises Caicedo completed his move from Brighton Hove Albion to Chelsea.

Romeo Lavia then joined Chelsea from relegated Southampton as a follow-up.

It was rumored that the two midfielders will join Jurgen Klopp's squad at Anfield. The Reds, however, were unable to match the two teams' value of their players.

Liverpool was ready to spend a fortune, having agreed on Caicedo's transfer price from Brighton, but the 22-year-old refused to have a medical.

In Chelsea's loss to West Ham last week, Moises Caicedo made his debut.

In the last minute, the Ecuadorian midfielder conceded a penalty that led to West Ham's goal.

Lavia was left off the roster because of her lack of match fitness.

The two young players, in Petit's opinion, would have been better off moving to Liverpool.

He said in his statement that Caicedo and Lavia's relocation to Chelsea was motivated by financial gain.
