Josko Gvaridol's Manchester City medical, which was conducted in advance of his move from RB Leipzig, was confirmed by Pep Guardiola on Friday.
On Wednesday, City and Gvardiol reached an agreement for a cost of £77.5 million, barely shy of the all-time defender record of £80 million paid by Manchester United for Harry Maguire in 2019.
In response to a question on the club's transfer strategy during the pre-match news conference on Friday, the City manager said that the Gvardiol is almost certain to be the most recent addition.
Pep Guardiola confirms: “JoÅ¡ko Gvardiol is doing a medical test. Hopefully we can finish the deal in the next few days...”
Gvardiol is not anticipated to play in the Community Shield match between City and Arsenal at Wembley, the customary opening match of the top division. However, despite ongoing rumors over their futures, Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva are set to play, and the Blues may give Mateo Kovacic his debut.
Pep Guardiola also answered questions concerning potential signings before thr start of the new season
On new signings, he said: “I don’t know if we are finished in transfer market, still some more I think”, Pep says.
