Following news of Thibaut Courtois' ACL injury, Real Madrid is planning to sign David De Gea.
Just a few days before the 2023–24 La Liga season was about to start with Madrid against Athletic Club at San Mames, Courtois sustained the horrific injury during practice.
The Belgian international is expected to miss the majority, if not the whole season, while he heals.
For the time being, Andriy Lunin will fill in as the starting goalie, but the 24-year-old Ukrainian is the only other goalkeeper on the first-team roster, which presents a challenge.
The club's second-oldest goalie is 21-year-old Lucas Canizares, who has never played for the first squad but has sometimes sat on the bench in different tournaments.
David De Gea, who is presently a free agent after leaving Manchester United after his contract there ended at the end of June, will find it simpler to join with Real Madrid.
The Saudi Pro League expressed interest in the 32-year-old, and when Yann Sommer departed to take Andre Onana's job at Inter, he also caught Bayern Munich's attention.
If you remember, De Gea famously was born and raised in Madrid and progressed through the ranks at Atletico, the city rivals, where he made his first-team debut in 2009 while still a youngster.
