The Nigerian senior national basketball team, D'tigers crashed out of the ongoing fiba pre-Olympics qualifying games at the eco convention center in Lagos after losing to Mali 77-68.
The game is a must win for the D'Tigers for a chance to qualify and participate in next year's Olympics in Paris, France.
This loss comes at the moment when the team needs to put in their best performance after losing to Senegal on Monday.
The defeat to Mali means the Nigerian senior national basketball team, who had earlier missed out on the world fiba basketball tournament will not also take part in next year's Olympics tournament in France.
This will be the first time the Nigerian senior national basketball team will miss out on the Olympics tournament since 2008
After the defeat the team took to their verified X handle (formally Twitter) to announce the probable reason for the outcome of the tournament which boils down to lack of structure, support and leadership.
Mali will face off against Senegal on Thursday to decide who finishes at the top of the group.
