Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk receives a further one-match suspension for his Newcastle red-card reaction.
Virgil van Dijk, captain of Liverpool, was given an additional match's suspension and fined £100,000 after acknowledging that his behavior after receiving a red card during a victory against Newcastle United was unprofessional.
In the 28th minute, the defender was dismissed for tripping Alexander Isak.
Van Dijk missed the match against Wolves on September 16 due to his suspension from the 3 September match against Aston Villa.
He looked to argue with the referee, John Brooks, before leaving the St. James' Park field.
Three minutes after Anthony Gordon's first goal put Liverpool down and with the opposition under pressure, the incident took place.
Darwin Nunez, a striker from Uruguay, came in as a substitute late in the game and scored twice to give Liverpool a 2-1 victory.
It was learnt that before proceeding down the tunnel, 32-year-old Dutch center-back also looked to quarrel with the fourth official.
Meanwhile, the former Southampton defender has taken to his social media platform to accept the punishment.
He admitted that it was the first red card in his career but vows to keep supporting his team despite being illegible to play.
