Despite having 10 men on the field after the game was over, the Citizens kept up their winning streak this season.

City took an early lead thanks to Phil Foden. When the opportunity presented itself, Phil Foden sliced through a deft Kyle Walker pullback to score.

It was the cleanest goal City has scored in their most recent championship defense, a testament to their mastery of a new system that, under Guardiola, is bringing out the best in Foden and depends more than ever before on rapid running.

Following a spectacular header, Erling Haaland gave Pep Guardiola's team a two-goal advantage after 18 minutes.

Then, when Rodri was dismissed after 46 minutes, City was down to 10 men.

Rodri, who was stupidly sent out for aggressive behavior shortly after the game began and put both hands around Morgan Gibbs-White's neck during an argument, is mostly to blame for this. Despite Gibbs-White's rather dramatic decking, Rodri had no cause for complaint. The manager's emotions were shown well by Guardiola's sharp comment to him and subsequent death glare down the tunnel.
