Nicolas Pepe has reacted to the fact that no move was made after he failed to achieve a deadline day departure.
That is not a certain result, however, and it would be worthwhile to retain him in north London given that Pepe also posted a statement on social media indicating he is prepared to remain.
The 28-year-old rushed to Instagram late on Friday night to post a photo of himself working out at the gym, but there was no evidence of any movement.
Reiss Nelson is now reportedly Arteta's preferred left winger, with Leandro Trossard and Emile Smith Rowe more likely to play in the center. When Saka needs to rest or has a little injury, Pepe may step in to fill a huge void left by that tactical alteration.
However, having Pepe as a ready-made alternative for the position is a real possibility if the month of September also passes and he stays an Arsenal player. The Gunners might adjust if the worst case scenario with Saka transpires.
This weekend's Premier League match between the Arsenal and Manchester United will take place.
It is unknown whether Mikel Arteta will choose Nicolas Pepe for the matchday roster for the match on Sunday at the Emirates stadium.
