Desire Oparanozie, a former Nigeria international, has announced his retirement from football.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria football player announced that at the age of 29, she will put up her boots.

On Wednesday morning, Oparanozie announced this in a post on her official social media account.

Oparanozie acknowledged her supporters throughout the years, including her family, friends, and fans, in her retirement statement.

"To my fans, family, and friends, thank you for the show of love and support over the years. It's time to take a bow, as I believe there's no better time than now. I'm officially announcing my retirement from professional football for both club and country, "she tweeted. 

She also expressed gratitude to her colleagues, rivals, and the clubs and coaches for whom she has played.



Oparanozie first gained attention while playing for Nigerian football teams Bayelsa and Delta Queens before relocating to Europe, where she later played in France and Russia.

She has four African Women's Championship titles, having won them in 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

She also competed for the Super Falcons side in the FIFA Women's World Cup teams that advanced to the Round of 16 in 2019 and 2023.
