Following the Chelsea vs. Aston Villa game, the FA has allegedly charged Reece James for violating the rules in the tunnel.
The Football Association has punished Chelsea captain Reece James for an alleged altercation in the tunnel during Saturday's loss at Aston Villa.
James, a 23-year-old defender for England, was injured and was unable to play in the game.
The defender is accused to have spoken improperly, insulted, or abusively at a match official in the tunnel following the game, according to the FA.
James has until September 29 to answer a claim that he violated FA rule E3.
According to reports, James challenged referee Jarred Gillett after Villa's 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Right-back James had a hamstring issue in training last month after having a difficult time staying healthy during the 2022–23 season.
On September 24, Chelsea played Villa with 10 men as Ollie Watkins' goal sealed the continuation of their season-long slump.
Malo Gusto, a French defender, was sent in the 58th minute for violent play after referee Gillett was prompted to consult the pitchside monitor by the visual assistant referee (VAR).
Gillett's tackle on Villa defender Lucas Digne by Gusto first earned him a yellow card, but the referee changed it to a red.
