World champion footballer Jenni Hermoso from Spain was warmly welcomed back to her Mexican team just hours after Spanish football Chief Luis Rubiales resigned from his position.
Hermoso, 33, returned to Pachuca, one of the most illustrious clubs in North and South America, for her first game after Spain won the World Cup.
She presented a painting in the 30,000-seat Hidalgo Stadium while a huge banner flying overhead depicting her playing for both the Spanish and Mexican teams as well as the two nations' flags.
She posed for photos holding a framed jersey with her number, 10, on it while Pachuca supporters and players congratulated her.
Minutes after her country's team won the World Cup for Spain, Hermoso was thrust into the public eye when it was claimed that the country's FA president forcedly kissed her during the final presentation ceremony.
After Hermoso testified and claimed she was not in agreement with the full mouth kiss, which was seen by millions of viewers worldwide, a prosecutor on Friday filed a charge against Rubiales for sexual assault and coercion.
Rubiales has maintained his position for weeks despite rising criticism by claiming that the kiss was "mutual" and "consensual."
But on Sunday, he made it known that, in light of the ongoing inquiries into the kiss, he would be resigning as president of Spain's FA.
