Xavi Hernandez has announced that he and Barcelona have reached a new contract agreement.
Prior to the La Liga match between Barcelona and Real Betis, he told the media that his contract renewal will soon be made public to the supporters.
This weekend, Barcelona will host Real Betis in their next test.
On Saturday, the Blaugrana and Manuel Pellegrini will square off in La Liga.
Real Madrid now leads by two points, therefore Barça cannot afford to lose any more ground to Los Blancos if they are to win the championship.
The team led by Manuel Pellegrini has won two of its first four matches and is now one point behind the top four slots in the rankings, in seventh place.
The club's contract extension was also confirmed by the Spanish manager, who hinted at a forthcoming announcement by stating, “I am happy and the project is continuing. My contract renewal will be announced in a few days.”
Recall that Xavi Hernandez was named Barcelona's coach on November 6, 2021.
He replaced Ronald Koeman as manager at his old team, Barcelona, and then went back there.
The renowned Spanish star is pleased to be staying at the Camp Nou after signing a deal with Barcelona that runs until June 2024.
