Victor Osimhen will not play in Nigeria's friendly match against Mozambique, according to Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles of Nigeria's coach.
The Nigerian striker has undergone a scan to establish the extent of his hamstring problem.
The Portuguese tactician said that Victor Osimhen's scan results will be released later on October 15th.
Osimhen suffered a hamstring injury during the friendly match between the Nigerian Super Eagles and Saudi Arabia on Friday, October 13, in Portugal, which concluded in a 2-2 tie.
The 24-year-old Nigerian attacker left the field in the 55th minute of the game, which concluded in a 2-2 tie, owing to pain from the injury.
Peseiro acknowledged his dissatisfaction with Osimhen's injury and said that, considering the player's importance to both club and country, he could send Osimhen back to Napoli for more evaluation of the injury.
Regardless of the seriousness of the injury, Peseiro said, he wouldn't risk Osimhen for Monday's friendly encounter against Mozambique. The friendly match will begin at 4 p.m. in Portugal.
Due to his injury, the Nigerian striker will be sidelined for Napoli's match against Verona on October 21.
