Reece James has made yet another breakthrough in his injury comeback for Chelsea.
The 23-year-old, who was chosen club captain during the summer, has so far had to observe from the sidelines due to yet another fitness concern.
James, however, has a troubled history with injuries and has missed a significant amount of each of the last two seasons due to hamstring and knee issues. He was hindered by a persistent issue that persisted during the last six weeks of the previous semester and prevented him from playing.
He was substituted off with around 20 minutes remaining in the season opener against Liverpool in 2023–24.
James later sustained a knock during practice that has kept him from playing ever since. Although he was seen working out as he recovers, he won't be ready to play until October 21 against Arsenal.
