A 32-year-old man, identified as Gbenga Kolawole, has been apprehended by the Ogun State Police for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.
According to a statement from SP Omolola Odutola, the command's spokesperson, the incident occurred during an annual Church year anniversary celebration on November 6, 2023, in Adubi, Ogun State.
The arrest followed a report from an aggrieved mother, who informed the police that her intoxicated daughter had been taken to a nearby bar shop during the celebration and locked there. The suspect, Gbenga Kolawole, allegedly took advantage of the situation to engage in unlawful carnal knowledge of the inebriated girl. The act was reportedly witnessed by Sunday Ibrahim, a resident of the same address.
SP Odutola revealed that the victim has been transported to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention and treatment, while Gbenga Kolawole is currently in custody pending preliminary investigations into the matter.
In a separate development, the Divisional Police Officer in Sango successfully recovered a Blue-colored Toyota RAV4 SUV with registration number MUS 580 JA for Elogie Polycap, who reported the theft of his vehicle from a car park in Gbagada by unknown thieves.
Intelligence-based policing led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man, Alao James, in his hideout in Ilo Ota in connection with the car theft. SP Odutola stated that all exhibits related to the case would be handed over to the Gbagada Police Station, where the incident originated.
