Arsenal's Manager Mikel Arteta Under Fire for Criticizing Refereeing Decisions After Defeat to Newcastle

Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal Football Club, has been officially charged with misconduct by the Football Association (FA). This action comes in response to his comments during post-match interviews following Arsenal's Premier League loss to Newcastle United.

The defeat, a 1-0 setback against Newcastle United at St James' Park, saw controversy arise from Anthony Gordon's goal in the second half, which occurred amid a contentious situation involving Joelinton's push on Gabriel Magalhaes.

FA statement reads: “Mikel Arteta has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.1”.

“It happens following comments that he made in media interviews after Arsenal’s Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday 4 November”.

During the subsequent press conference, Mikel Arteta vocally criticized the officiating, particularly targeting referee Steward Atwel and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials for their decisions during the game.

While this has stirred controversy, Arsenal Football Club has publicly expressed their unwavering support for their manager amidst this FA charge.

Reports indicate that the FA has given Mikel Arteta a limited timeframe to provide a response to the charges levied against him.

Looking ahead, following the conclusion of the FIFA International break, Arsenal is scheduled to face Brentford in their upcoming Premier League fixture.
