Super Eagles' iconic goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, recently unveiled the reasons behind his prolonged detachment from Nigerian football, shedding light on his perception of being unfairly treated during his departure from the national team.
In an exclusive interview, Enyeama reminisced about some of the highlights of his illustrious career, particularly highlighting the victorious AFCON triumph in 2013 and his consecutive title wins with Enyimba as standout moments.
When quizzed about the present state of the Super Eagles' goalkeeping department, Enyeama candidly expressed his disconnection from the team's recent matches, revealing the personal pain he endured during that period.
“I’ve not been following Nigerian football since the day I left the national team; with due respect, I was treated like a piece of used material. So I put up a block between me and the national team." The former Lille shot-stopper said to Hotsportsng.
He said, "It’s now that I’m beginning to follow what is going on, but I put a stop to watching the national team because I was deeply hurt.
“I’ve moved and changed chapters. I can’t say much about the national team or the goalkeeping position because I’m not watching them.”
