Nigeria's Chiamaka Nnadozie Triumphs as CAF Women's Goalkeeper of the Year
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) proudly revealed on Monday that Chiamaka Nnadozie, the talented goalkeeper from Nigeria plying her trade with Paris FC, has secured the esteemed title of the 2023 CAF Women's Goalkeeper of the Year.
Nnadozie's exceptional goalkeeping prowess prevailed against formidable competition, including Khadija Er-Rmichi of Morocco (AS FAR) and Andile Dlamini of South Africa (Mamelodi Sundowns).
Chiamaka Nnadozie's recognition as the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year stems from her crucial role as a key member of the Super Falcons during their journey in the 2023 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Despite the setback in the semi-final against Morocco, Nnadozie's leadership and consistent performances between the goalposts played a pivotal role in Nigeria's commendable run throughout the tournament.
Her impactful contributions extended to the World Cup, where Nnadozie displayed remarkable goalkeeping prowess, helping the Falcons reach the Round of 16 before bowing out against England.
The acknowledgment of Nnadozie's achievements was highlighted by her receiving the inaugural African Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award, a moment she shared with former Nigeria goalkeeper Precious Dede.
