Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's manager, has disclosed that the team will refrain from acquiring any defenders in the upcoming January transfer window.



In a recent Premier League match, the Reds faced a significant setback with Joel Matip sustaining a serious injury.

Klopp has officially confirmed that Joel Matip, the Cameroonian international whose contract extends until 2024, has torn his ACL, rendering him unavailable for the entirety of 2024.

During a press conference on Friday, Klopp addressed the issue and stated that Liverpool's decision to abstain from signings in January is rooted in financial considerations.

When questioned about the possibility of Liverpool securing a new center-back in January, Klopp responded, "I don't think so," emphasizing the financial constraints the club is facing.

He further elaborated that recruiting a defender in January would be costly for Liverpool, as top clubs are unlikely to release their key players during that period. Klopp asserted, "It all costs money; it must be the right player. Tell me a club that wants to sell a top, top, top center-half…"
