West Ham's Konstantinos Mavropanos refrains from celebrating after scoring against his former club Arsenal
In a Thursday night Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners experienced a 2-0 defeat, marking David Moyes' first managerial victory over Arsenal, with goals from Souček and Mavropanos.
West Ham seized the lead in the 13th minute through Souček, amidst controversy over a Jarrod Bowen cross that VAR struggled to determine whether the ball had crossed the line or not.
Mavropanos extended West Ham's lead in the 55th minute, connecting with a corner kick from James Ward-Prowse.
The Greek defender, who previously played for Arsenal from 2018 to 2022 and spent significant loan periods at Nuremberg and Stuttgart, chose not to celebrate his goal against his former club.
Arsenal's defeat leaves them in second place, trailing leaders Liverpool by two points and maintaining a three-point lead over fourth-placed Manchester City.
