Newcastle United's European journey came to an end following their 2-1 defeat against AC Milan at St James' Park.
In a crucial final group stage match on Wednesday, Eddie Howe's side faced a must-win situation. Initially taking the lead with Joelinton's goal, the Magpies found themselves leveled at 1-1 as Christian Pulisic netted for AC Milan in the 59th minute.

Shortly after being subbed in, Samuel Chukwueze swiftly added another goal, securing a 2-1 victory for AC Milan in the 84th minute.

This loss relegated Newcastle United to a fourth-place finish in their group, while AC Milan secured the third position, thus relegating them to the Europa League.

Meanwhile, in another fixture, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured the second spot in their group after a draw against Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.

Initially trailing due to Karim Adeyemi's goal for Dortmund, Zare Emery's strike equalized the score for PSG.

Although Kylian Mbappe thought he had secured the winning goal, it was disallowed for offside, resulting in a 1-1 draw and PSG securing the second position in the group.
